With the Dranse River slicing through Morzine and others close by, White Water sports are very popular. Rafting, Canyoning, Hydrospeed, Canoing and Kayaking are all possible in the area.
There are many lakesaround Morzine that are excellent for swimming, fishing and sunbathing. Lakes start warming up in July.

The Giffre River and the Dranse River are both close by and excellent for rafting. Rafting in the area is best in July and August.
To go rafting, you must know how to swim. Bring a bathing suit, towel and lots of sunscreen. Rafting Companies supply the rest of the gear.
Canyoning is a thrilling, hands-on, white water activity. The Bellevaux canyon in Morzine is not far from town and offers a great adventure. The ability to swim is a must and adventure companies supply the rest. Youths 14 and up are welcome.
With all the rivers and lakes close by, kayaking is good in the area. The Dranse above Thonon offers a range of levels but ring the EDF for release times and volumes. The Dora Baltea features a range of difficulties including 15km of grade 6! The Giffre is good and grade 3 (below the grade 5 Sixt gorge).
Whether you know it as Hydrospeed, Riverboarding or White-water Sledging, the great rush is the same. In the area, the Dranse of Savoie and the Dranse of Morzine are excellent rivers for hydrospeed.
Canoeing on the areas rivers in an inflatable canoe is offered by most rafting and adventure companies. For those looking for a slower pace, lake canoeing is also available.
Many Adventure companies offer trips to Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) for a day of water skiing and wake boarding. The lake is about 40 minutes away and is perfect for water activities.
