• Why Choose Himalayan Experience?

More and more expedition operators are offering trips to Everest, Manaslu and Lobuche, and often at lower prices than ours. Our expeditions and treks are all-inclusive; there are no hidden costs.

Over the many years that Himalayan Experience has been operating, we have gained valuable experience and knowledge that allows us to plan and execute safe expeditions.

    Our leader,
Russell Brice, is renowned for his logistical prowess and commitment to safety. His  expedtion expertise is unparalled.
  • Safety

Our Sherpa ratio of 1:1 is the optimum ratio. This dramatically increases both safety and your chances of success.

We endeavour to have a 1:4 Western guide ratio.

We have a dedicated medical tent at BC, which is equipped with a Certec bag and comprehensive medical kits.

The experience of our Sherpa team is second to none, our senior Sherpas have been on all our expeditions since 1994. Our Sherpa team, from summit climber to cook, are totally outfitted in the highest quality clothing and equipment. This level of Sherpa backup is invaluable for your safety and success.

Our oxygen management is also very important. We allow for 5 bottles per person on Everest, and 2 on Manaslu.

  • Comfort

We try to minimise the harshness of the environment by providing the best food and highest possible level of comfort. This has a dramatically beneficial effect on both morale and physical conditioning, which are essential ingredients for success on the mountain.

Our Sherpa team pre-equips each tent on the mountain with sleeping bags, thus reducing the weight you have to carry between each camp.

Our Whitepod mess tent is a haven of comfort, with carpet on the floor, gas heating and electric lighting. It also features comfortable chairs, music, coffee machine, bar and widescreen for DVD viewing.

The result is a happy team, better prepared for the mountain.

  • Our Kitchen

Lachhu our head cook is generally considered to be the best in the business, having cooked for Himalayan Experience since 1994.

Our mountain kitchen and cooks are second to none, with hygiene standards to match.

All cooking is done in a hygenic kitchen, with stainless steel sinks and gas stoves and ovens. We do not use kerosene, so there is no risk of contamination. Hygiene points such as these can make or break a trip.

We provide a fantastic variety of foods, including plenty of fresh meat, fruits and vegetables, and our menus are always highly appreciated. Base Camp and hill food has a reputation for being bland and boring - ours is the opposite.
  • Hygiene

Yes, we do provide gas heated hot showers at BC. This is a most wonderful luxury that has an immediately beneficial effect on morale.

Even our toilet tent is both comfortable and hygienic.

We are also extremely conscious of not despoiling the Himalayan environment - all our human waste is removed from the mountain in barrels. This is costly, but we consider it an essential responsibility.

  • Communication

Every Member, Guide and Sherpa is equipped with a hand held radio, and we have a 24 hour radio watch at Base Camp. Such a communications network is an essential safety back up.

We have a long-term working relationship with Meteotest, who provide forecasting for all our expeditions. These forecasts, combined with our many years of experience in the Himalaya, enable us to make superior predictions on when it is safe to make our summit attempts
  • Local Impact

As we are very aware of our impact on the local environment, we remove all waste and rubbish on behalf of our Members.

Over the years we have worked with various local aid projects to help the Tibetan and Nepalese. These efforts have now been consolidated through the formation of
    Friends of Humanity and SmileHigh.
